Follow-up To Friday June 26th Day of Prayer at Sylvan Springs

These photos were all taken last evening after the Friday Night Rosary from in front of The Our Lady Mother of Mercy Chapel. The sun was spinning quite wonderfully at the time and these are just some of the images captured by one of the pilgrims who had driven several hours to pray with us.

More photos coming. They are even more awesome!

Family Day of Prayer Set For Friday, June 26th

Please join us Friday, June 26th for a day of prayer and reflection at Sylvan Springs. Tours with Nick Chester will begin at 12:30 pm and will be followed by an open forum Q & A on Holy Family Hill with Larry Young.

After a break for free time to wander the grounds and break out the picnic baskets,
Irv Kloska will speak and lead a healing prayer service in The Our Lady Mother of Mercy Chapel before the Friday Night Rosary.

If you have been thinking about visiting, this will be a wonderful opportunity to make that visit extra special. Bring the kids and bring your friends and neighbors. You will meet some extraordinary people along the way, just like you, who are hungry to learn all they can about Our Lady of America. You will feel Our Lady's presence and gain insight into how we can all answer Her call for purity in our daily lives.

Here are just a few comments from those who have attended in the past and will surely be there again for this event:

"You explain that it feels like a hug when a person arrives at Sylvan Springs, to me, it feels like I have arrived home, to the home of my ancestors almost. I feel like I am stepping where my ancestors before me trod. Hard to explain, but there it is." Mary, Ashley, MI

"Having organized a few groups before, I am always curious as to how the first timers are going to react. After Larry's talk we headed outside to tour the grounds. As soon as I stepped outside of the door, I was asked, "How soon can we come back here?" I then headed up to Holy Family Hill and was greeted with a hug from a friend who also asked, "When is the next trip scheduled?" It is always the same thing and everyone who goes to Rome City first has a hard time leaving and secondly, has a hard time not returning!
I would highly recommend that anyone, Catholic or not, visit Sylvan Springs in Rome City. God will touch you wherever you are in your walk with him."
Patti, St. John's, MI

"Thank you so much for letting us come up Saturday. A powerful experience indeed! My friend that I brought with me has the deep desire to go back, NOW." Michelle, Lafayette, IN

Photo From June 13 Day of Prayer and Reflection at Sylvan Springs

A large orb appears in the very spot of the first Our Lady of America apparition while a man rests in the spirit after being prayed over by Irv Kloska on Saturday, June 13.

This photo was sent to us by Brenda who says: "It was another amazing spiritual time and I am ready to come back."

Another observer said he could feel "a cloak of holiness surround him" while this scene was unfolding. He said the feeling continued for the whole day as he experienced one defining moment after another with his family. He promised to return very soon to pray in the chapels and teach his children more about Our Lady of America and Her call to purity.

Pope Pius XII Witnessed Miracle of The Sun Too!

Although I have never been to any of the so-called MAJOR apparition sites around the globe, I know exactly what visitors to those places have described when they tell their accounts of having seen "the Miracle of The Sun". It has been seen here in Rome City, IN from atop Holy Family Hill and from the front lawn of The Our Lady Mother of Mercy Chapel with great regularity.
I have found a striking parallel between the frequency of this phenomena and the number of people gathered in prayer to pray the rosary. It seems the presence of children makes the phenomena even more intense.

I have never been able to find a really good explanation for why this phenomena occurs (aside from Our Lady's loving presence). It seems astrologists and scientists prefer to shrug it off as nonsense. I can assure you all it is not. Just like at Fatima, large gatherings of pilgrims have witnessed it here and continue to do so when the sun is not covered by rain clouds. Sometimes, the clouds will part for just a few brief moments and the sun's array of colors and dancing movement will be seen by visitors who have come in deep faith to pray for Our Lady of America's intercession and for Her enthronement as requested on this very spot in 1956.

This phenomena has been witnessed by the absolute highest of Church authority.

In the 1950s Mary's recognition and thus Her ability to intercede were magnified when Pope Pius XII defined the dogma of her Assumption. On the day he announced this intention, the Pope witnessed a solar phenomenon. It happened immediately behind the Vatican gardens above the land that once belonged to Nero and Caligula.

"The sun, which was fairly high, looked like a pale yellow opaque globe completely surrounded by a luminous halo, which nevertheless did not prevent me at all from staring attentively at the sun without the slightest discomfort," Pius wrote in a note to a cardinal. "The opaque globe began moving outward, slowly turning over upon itself, and going from left to right and vice versa. But within the globe very strong movements could be seen in all clarity and without interruption."

On November 1, the actual day for definition of the new dogma, the sun again moved so oddly that afterward Pius made inquiries to the Vatican Observatory! I wonder what explanation they were able to give....

A Pilgrim's Story in Pictures

Here are just two of the pictures I have of orbs from this past Saturday. My sister and I went wandering and took some quiet time in the little chapel where I felt compelled to snap a picture. It is bright white and very high above the alter. The second picture had many orbs but the one I think it so interesting almost forms a halo around the head of the statue of Mary.

Mary sent us some more photos from when she visited on March 28 with her husband James. Notice the orbs on the crosses on the back wall of the chapel?

The Overseer of Justice/ Archbishop Raymond Burke Speaks

By Andrew Rabel, reporting from Rome for Inside the vatican Magazine

Editor's note: Archbishop Raymond Burke, Prefect of the Apostolic Signatura, recently invited Andrew Rabel, Australian ITV correspondent, to a friendly lunch nearby his offices at the Palazzo della Cancelleria (photo). Never to be outdone, Andrew always carries his dictaphone with him. So the former archbishop of St Louis, with his typical graciousness, consented to an interview, despite the noise in the crowded restaurant. It is the second interview ITV has conducted with His Excellency in less than a year.

We are posting this is a small portion of the entire interview where he is asked about Our Lady of America and his role in its confirmation.

Some devotees of Our Lady of America, are rather critical of the letter you wrote when you were Archbishop of St. Louis, claiming that the devotion had now been approved. They say that because Sister Mary Ephrem Neuzil (the seer who initiated and encouraged this devotion until her death in the year 2000) came from Ohio, it was not within your authority to write the letter?

Burke: I was simply asked to give a canonical opinion as to whether the devotion had ever been properly recognized. It was perfectly proper to ask me to write the letter because I have a certain knowledge of canon law and was provided all of the necessary documentation to reach a conclusion about the question of the approval of the devotion. After studying the documentation, I was able to write the letter. The letter was sent to my brother Bishops in the United States; it was not written to a wide audience. Before sending the letter, I sent a draft of it to the Archbishop of Cincinnati and the Bishop of Toledo, in whose jurisdiction Sister Mary Ephrem lived a good part of her religious life.
So what the letter simply says is that, yes, Archbishop Paul Leibold [a previous archbishop of Cincinnati] knew of this devotion from its beginning, when he was a priest, and eventually approved it.
I am sad there are these divisions in regard to the devotion, because I think it is a very beautiful devotion and especially fitting for our time. Our Lady’s message on the living of the Holy Trinity within us, and its manifestation in the purity of the young is so much needed in our culture, today.
I was not in a position to approve anything. You can criticize me for many things, but what I did in writing the letter was correct.

Well because of the position you have now in Rome, can you expedite Mary’s request to have the statue of Our Lady of America enshrined at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC?

Burke: No, there is nothing I can do here. That decision entirely rests with the competent bishops in the United States.

Always Set A Good Example...You Never Know If A Future Priest Is Watching!

On June 13, 2009, about 80 people set out for a day of organized talks and tours at Sylvan Springs in Rome City, Indiana. More than half of the group was children. I love telling people about what happened during the days that we go to Rome City, but today I am focusing on what we take with us. Of course I will touch on the days experiences filled with pictures of small miracles as well as testimonies of those present that day, however I also have to focus first on today is the impact that Sylvan Springs has on our family and any family that visits there. On a day to day basis, we as parents develop a "norm" for our kids. Depending on the day to day activities and what our kids see and hear, they will grow up to be adults that have been formed by these things. No wonder there is a shortage of priests! There are no Catholic Wii games, PS2 games or DS games. There are very few tv shows that uphold our Catholic faith and certainly a lesser number of those that promote it. All of these things I think are okay in moderation, but I do not want "Josh and Drake" or "Sponge Bob" to form my children. Yesterday, Michelle and Ken Newcomb, the makers of "The Priest Game" were present in Rome City, bringing along another family and 4 of their 6 kids.
They have recognized the dilemma that we as Catholic parents have and have answered the call to provide us with games and activities so that we have options for our kids to choose in lieu of spiritually empty electronic games or tv shows. So, I gladly handed over a check for "The Priest Game" and spent the 2 hour drive home keeping my curious 5 from opening it!

We had a leisurely morning today and around 11:30 my oldest son announced that he wanted to be a priest and asked me to come up to the boys' room where he had "mass" set up.
Using the hosts from "The Priest Game" and every Catholic article that he could find, he had made an alter with the old Thomas the Tank Engine play table, set up a lectern with his music stand and had talked his younger brother into being the deacon.
He used his mass book to conduct mass and announced that we would be saying the family rosary at 4:00pm. On the way home, all of the kids commented on how much they loved Fr. Link and wished that he would be sent to our church! I can't help but think that our oldest was touched deeply by Fr. David Link and the hour or so that he devoted to being with us in Rome City. What if his decision to be there yesterday was the clincher for Aidan's decision? Now I know that there are years ahead and Aidan may decide to fulfill another vocation with his life, but there is always the chance that he may stick with it. What a wonderful example of how following God's call to be a priest by Fr. Link may have change my son's life forever! The Holy Spirit led Fr. Link to Sylvan Springs yesterday. He also led us.

Our family has taken several trips to Rome City now and I now see the impact that it is having on them. They WANT to say the rosary, they WANT to practice the mass, they WANT to learn more about their faith. This is our "norm" now. They are building friendship bonds with other kids that are also there and so are my husband and I.

Many of the people that I have asked to go to Rome City have come back and with huge momentum. They come back as families. They come back bringing many of their family members and friends. They come there with the same yearning that we do. The spiritual gravity that exists at Sylvan Springs is phenomenal. I know that every time anyone answers the call of the Holy Spirit to go there, they are blessed abundantly.

While at Sylvan Springs, you can feel the peace of Christ, the love of the Father and the warmth of Mary Our Mother. There are many little miracles that happen when you are there, little spiritual boosts, if you will. We have witnessed the miracle of the sun and have had "orbs" of light appear in our pictures. While these little nuggets are not necessary, they serve as a confirmation of our faith that no one can deny.

So, I leave you with this thought. Think about the "norm" that you are creating for your family. Think about the eternal implications your "norm" may have on them. Think about how your "norm" can improve and what you can do to change this. Pray about visiting Sylvan Springs. You will be blessed abundantly. God bless you on your faith journey!

Letter From A Reader

Friday, June 12th, EWTN will air an hour long episode at 10 am Eastern/ 9 am Central about Our Lady of America on The Abundant Life program. As you know, Bob and I personally witnessed the "Miracle of the Sun" and received miracles through the intercession of Our Lady of America after visiting Sylvan Springs in Rome City, Indiana. This is the site where the Blessed Mother first appeared as Our Lady of America, a canonically approved devotion, to Sr. Mary Ephrem in 1956. Prior to my visit there I was using a walker or cane and no longer need either. Visitors to "the Springs" continue to receive physical and spiritual cures, witness the sun spinning or capture miraculous images on film. See oltiv.org. for more history, as well as recent testimonials, photos and information.

Please pray for the devotion to Our Lady of America, that the confirmation of this special devotion and the enthronement of Our Lady of America in the National Basilica in Washington DC occurs without delay and that we heed the urgent requests of Our Lady of America to save this country and our world.

Prayers are also needed for the preservation of Sylvan Springs where Our Lady first appeared as Our Lady of America. Though funded since 2000 by a private family they are not able to carry the full weight of this load by themselves any longer and need financial help to save it. They have been open for anyone who wishes to visit and frequently offer presentations and tours of the grounds and Chapel free of charge. They also have a recitation of the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet every Friday evening. For further information or donations visit oltiv.org.

This is not just for Catholics...if you ever have the chance to visit this blessed place do not miss the opportunity. This is a place for all Americans who love Our Lord and Savior. Our Lady has asked many times to "Bring me My children, bring me all My children." Her wish is to lead all of us closer to Her Son, Jesus Christ.

Thanks and God bless,
Pam

Why Is The Property For Sale?

With the recent EWTN coverage of the Our Lady of America devotion (Abundant Life featuring an hour-long interview with author Dan Lynch) we have experienced a large influx of new visitors. If you saw the program and the facts presented to the viewers by EWTN, you understand the sense of urgency that is before this country and faithful Catholics everywhere. We need to heed the warnings of Our Lady of America to save this country and our world.

Many of you who have recently become aware of the importance of this devotion to Blessed Mother under this special title have asked why this property, that is the home of the Our Lady of America apparitions and messages, is for sale. The simple answer is that this property has been funded since 2000 by a private family who is simply not able to carry the full weight of this load by themselves any longer. They need your help to save it.

People ask us every day what they can do to help the cause of Sylvan Springs in furthering the Our Lady of America devotion. What we need is for someone or some group to step forward and help to save this property if Our Lady's work is to be continued here. The time for action is now.

The moment of confirmation of this special devotion and the enthronement of Our Lady of America in the National Basilica in Washington DC is closer than ever. If you or someone you know is willing and able to assist in this effort for Our Lady of America, please call 260-854-3525 or email info@oltiv.org. We will answer your questions and explain several options available to investors or benefactors in this effort. You can also donate by credit card by clicking on the DONATION button on the right side of this page.

Our Lady of America has promised special graces for those who work to promote this devotion in ways big and small. Please respond to Her call and lend whatever help you can. Every bit helps. This property must be saved for Our Lady's work. Together, we can, and must, succeed.

Please make checks payable to:

OLTIV

Please make certain your return address is included for your tax receipt.

God Is Not A Disinterested Spectator

Commentary by Fr. John Corapi

Flash point: The point at which something is ready to blow up. That has been my perception of Western society in general for some time now. Perhaps, a train wreck waiting to happen would be another way to put it. All evil can claim its ultimate origin in moral evil. Those that deny objective standards of morality merely facilitate the demise of their society. When it happens they will be nowhere to be found.

That apparently large numbers of people seem to be intellectually and morally numb is not news, but the near light-speed evaporation of our way of life is. Actions have consequences, and sometimes the consequences can't be seen this side of eternity. That does not mean they aren't real. You will be seeing some of the consequences very soon, however, not the worst, but the most immediate.

Personal liberty has already begun to be compromised. Various governments, including the United States, now own car companies like General Motors and Chrysler, mega insurance companies, soon perhaps health care and energy. Injustice is beginning to be seen from the smallest of individuals to the largest of corporations. The only problem with that is that governments have never been able to operate anything profitably, efficiently, or equitably. The little guy and the large corporation will all be equal opportunity recipients of heavy-handed injustice very soon.

The government is about to dictate what car you can drive, how you insure it, what your bank can pay you or not, what kind of heating you have in your home, if you can have air conditioning or not. And, oh, if you eat a Twinkie your health insurance premium is going up. If you get sick, perhaps the Twinkie did it, and you aren't covered.

You might say that the government needs to control things to keep us safe, etc. That might work if the people in government could be trusted. They can't, but we elected them. We get what we deserve, and many chickens are about to come home to roost.
One of the inherent difficulties with a democratic republic is that it is only as good as the people in it. When a people lose their moral equilibrium, live in sin, and suffer the consequent loss of wisdom, then that nation's days are numbered.

Why? How have we come to this? It can be traced to the most compelling moral issue of our times, and we can't escape from it, no matter how uncomfortable it is - abortion and other life issues.

No matter what other rosy picture is painted by those that would have you believe all is well, God is not a disinterested spectator. Regardless of the high sounding rhetoric of the day, seeming progress in this or that area, it is an illusion.

Nothing will ultimately go well for the United States or any other country until the injustice of all injustices is remedied. Until every human being is respected and reverenced, from the moment of conception to the last moment of natural life, no one will be safe and secure.

Whether it is the helpless infant in the womb or the misguided and/or evil abortionist on the wrong end of a bullet, all deserve the safety and security of the law. Only God can in justice and wisdom decide when life begins and when life ends. When we attempt to usurp God's job description we always come up short.

It's Cool To Pray The Rosary!!

These kids think so too!

If you don't have a rosary, don't worry. We have plenty on hand when you get here. Thanks to Pam and Jan and their friends for keeping us prepared for those who visit without their own rosaries.

It seems that people who visit here often develop a sudden desire to pray the rosary or go to confession. Hmmmmm.....What do you think would cause that?

Words From An Earlier Battle for Justice

While pondering the recent murder of Dr. Tiller and the resultant litany of angry pro-abortion voices accusing pro-life advocates in this country of being responsible for the actions of one troubled man, I was reminded of a letter that had been written by a man from jail over 40 years ago. His letter went like this:

"...In your statement you assert that our actions, even though peaceful, must be condemned because they precipitate violence. But is this a logical assertion?
Isn't this like condemning a robbed man because his possession of money precipitated the evil act of robbery?
Isn't this like condemning Socrates because his unswerving commitment to truth and his philosophical inquiries precipitated the act by the misguided populace in which they made him drink Hemlock?
Isn't this like condemning Jesus because his unique God consciousness and never ceasing devotion to God's will precipitated the evil act of crucifixion?
We must come to see that, as the federal courts have consistently affirmed, it is wrong to urge an individual to cease his efforts to gain his basic constitutional rights because the quest may precipitate violence. Society must protect the robbed and punish the robber....
More and more I feel that the people of ill will have used time much more effectively than have the people of good will. We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of the bad people but for the appalling silence of the good people. Human progress never rolls in on wheels of inevitability; it comes through the tireless efforts of men willing to be co workers with God, and without this hard work, time itself becomes an ally of the forces of social stagnation. We must use time creatively, in the knowledge that the time is always ripe to do right."

Dr. Martin Luther King writing from his Birmingham, Alabama jail cell.

Now, I don't want to mislead anyone reading this that there is any way to justify the actions of this alleged killer of Dr. Tiller. Likewise, there is no justification for the attacks being waged against the good people of conscience who protest the killing of innocent babies by the supporters of abortion. Individuals must not act alone but in concert with all of society.

It is our hope and prayer that in the course of the discussions that this event has fostered, society will come to address these atrocities against the unborn for what they are.

Pray for an end to violence and for an increase in love for each other.

Day of Prayer and Pilgrimage Set For Saturday, June 13

The previously scheduled day of prayers, lectures, and question and answers for pilgrims that had been set for May 20 has been re-scheduled for Saturday, June 13 at Sylvan Springs. All are invited to attend.

The day's events will begin at 12 noon with group tours of the main building which give visitors a strong sense of the history of the facility and how it was used at the time of the Our Lady of America apparitions in 1956.

Alex Fiato will be on hand to give his wonderful presentation of the Shroud of Turin exhibit sponsored by The Father Solanus Casey Knights of Columbus. Many parents and children have requested that Alex be on hand again.
His presentation really brings Our Lord's burial shroud and the evidence obtained from it to life. It is worth the trip just for this experience. Make sure you bring the kids.

After intermission, there will be another presentation for visitors to attend. This presentation will go over more of the in-depth history of Our Lady of America, peoples' experiences at Sylvan Springs, and an update as to where we are in the final confirmation process with the Church. If time allows, there will be an opportunity for a question and answer session that usually proves quite entertaining.

Please join us for this special day of sharing and prayer on behalf of Our Lady of America. There is no fee to attend but good will offerings are gratefully accepted.
