Feast of The Queenship of Mary Miraculous Healing?
The following letter is submitted for your discernment. The young woman is still pain free and her entire family is helping document her case for further study.
"Bring me my children....."
Dear Larry,
On Wednesday, August 23, 2007 I received a miracle in Rome City, Indiana. My good friend that I have known for about thirteen years took me there. He was telling me all about Rome City, and I was intrigued. When he mentioned the Good Friday well I blurted out, "Let's go right now." We hopped in the car and drove the sixty miles from South Bend. I'm so happy we did.
I did not go out to Rome City thinking I would receive a miracle. I just wanted to be in such a miraculous place where Mary's presence fills the air.
My friend and I drank from the well. I was doing this to taste this "amazingly, sweet, pure water" that I had heard so much about. When we were standing by the well, my friend asked me about the pain in my wrist and foot and my migraines. I told him that I deal with these pains because that is my only option.
I won't go into too much detail, but I have (HAD!) Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. This is an extremely painful disorder, causing pain to remain even after injuries heal. I've had terrible pain for over seven years. I'm 21 years old, meaning I've had this pain for 1/3 of my life. In those seven years I've had six major surgeries, and over 35 surgical procedures, for this condition. Until the Feast of the Queenship of Mary (Wednesday, August 22nd) I was in constant pain. If someone touched my wrist or foot it would become especially painful. I've also had severe migraines, resulting in being hospitalized (sometimes for as long as a week) at least six times.
We went to Holy Family Hill (POUND THE HILL!) to pray a Rosary, and while there I saw the sun spinning. It was a beautiful experience. While walking back to the car I blurted out, "Let's go back to the well."
When my friend and I were drinking from the spring, he told me to dunk my wrist, foot, and head in the water. I was scared to death because the water is ice cold, and I knew it was going to kill my wrist. At first I was scared and doubted, and didn't dunk. A second time my friend told me to dunk in the water. This time I wetted my hand and washed with the water, but did not dunk. A third time my friend told me to dunk in the water, and this time I didn't hold back. I plunged my whole arm into the water.
As I did it my friend asked me, "Do you believe that Jesus Christ, working through Mary, can heal you?"
I responded, "Yes."
He asked me again, "Do you believe that Jesus Christ, working through Mary, can heal you?"
This time I responded, "Yes, I really do believe that Jesus can heal me through Mary and this water."
It ended up that the water did not hurt my wrist. On the contrary, I could touch my wrist without pain!!!!!! This was the first time in SEVEN years that I could do this. I forgot what it was like to be pain FREE! My foot doesn't even have pain in it either. Also, I did NOT even get a migraine Friday when it rained.I use to always get them when it rained.
I cannot thank God enough for this miracle. I have been granted this miracle and want to share it with the world. I tell anyone and everyone that I have been with. I am still in shock with what happened two days ago. Blessed be God forever.
When I first wrote this I was worried that I didn't mention God enough, but now I realize that God is in every word of this story. I used to think that miracles were for 'other people', and happened in 'other places' likes Europe. Now I know that miracles are for everybody, even people like me, and happen right here in Indiana. Blessed be God forever.

Thank you dear Mother, "Our Lady of America", for your intercession to Our Lord Jesus Christ. For you said, "Bring me my children".
Your child came and your child was healed by washing in the Good Friday well and through the power of believing that Jesus Christ would heal the child through Mary.
Praise God for this wonderful healing and also for this beautiful Holy Place where anyone can come, and nourish their soul.

Anon, I am not sure how that's really related to the healing that took place, and I don't really understand what you're saying. Is this related to Our Lady of America?

Luke- sorry to cross streams on you, but it isn't related to the healing...which is a beautiful testament, BTW, but it was more of a interesting note from another website that seems fairly applicable to the events we see unfolding all over this country and the world.
I would really love to see a follow-up to this woman's story and see what her doctors have to say. I am hopeful we will have a miracle confirmed.
If the young woman could respond, by chance, was Our Lady of America, Sr. Millie, or Archbishop Burke's names invoked as any part of the healing prayers...on the hill..at the water, etc...?
I am looking to see if there was any direct intercession of any of these people who may be considered saints one day.
It looks to me like the healing described here is one related to the grounds/special spring waters, praying to Jesus through Mary. This would be similar to Lourdes or Betania where the seer/individual connected to the place - like Bernadette or Maria Esperanza - are looked at separately from the places of miracles to which they are attached. Many times a place can be approved by the local bishop while the seer/messages are held separately for separate investigation as in Betania. The fruits of course of the chosen spot would most likely be a boost to the seer connected if/when there is an investigation when the cause is promoted, but the miracles used on the road to canonization have their own very specific guidelines.
What a terrific story and act of healing faith. I would also appreciate knowing how this young woman's progress goes if it is approved by her spiritual advisors.
Not everyone has spiritual advisors. I also don't think that every miracle needs to be approved by a spiritual advisor. In fact none do.
So to the woman who had the healing. God bless you and know God is good and your healing is a healing if you know it is. Particularly if your doctor cannot explain it in any other way.

It's sad that there is still no mention of bringing "Her" to Rome City...the place where it all began!
Isn't Rome City just a couple hours north of the direct line between St. Louis and New York?
I think the folks handling the statue ought to recognize the importance of what this could mean.
If the woman who was heaaled wishes to testify as to her healing as being miraculous, she does need to seek the counsel of a spiritual advisor (priest, nun, etc...) to help her DOCUMENT her story so it can be submited to her Bishop (in this case, Bishop D'Arcy from Ft Wayne/South Bend).
I agree with the other comment about bringing the statue to Rome City for veneration and to symbolically start Our Lady's journey from the point of origin. If you have never been to the chapel in Rome City, you have no way to fully understand how important it is to do so.

To have the statue visit a place in any diocese, it isn't up to those "handling the statue", but the statue has to be invited by the local bishop (or a parish with the bishop's permission) first. Since this whole cause is so closely tied to the bishops I doubt if the statue would travel to any church in a diocese without making certain first that the bishop there has no objection. So this could possibly happen here, I would think, if the bishop said it was fine with him. I don't know, but there might be a barrier to a place so connected to the cause UNTIL the bishops approve the cause, but that may just be the case. Has anyone here requested this of the bishop for THIS statue? I believe that one of the previous statues was privately brought here. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Let God's Will be done! Let us not get involved with where the statue is venerated. It is all happening according to God's plan.
Our Lady will be pleased with where ever Her image is present and being venerated.

A spiritual director will not approve a miracle. The chancery is the first place to start.
She does not need a spiritual director to write or contact the Bishop at the Chancery. She needs documentation of her healing as not being of man's ability, and the story, complete of what has happened. The bishop himself can decide whether this is considered a healing along with the process it all goes through that the bishop starts.
Do not expect a healing to become a published healing. That goes through a special area in the vatican and can take years.
All I am saying is I believe healings that doctors cannot explain if a spiritual healing is being explained for the reason. I have seen many and people do NOT need a spiritual director. They need a doctor's report and they need to go FIRST to the chancery. A spiritual director such as a priest cannot do anything more than tell them that. I know because it happened in my family, and that is what I was told to do by my spiritual director.
Let us not get so involved with more red tape than we already have to deal with.
Praise Jesus, for the healings, and move to the chancery, with or without a spiritual director. Your spiritual director is not going to be able to do anything but advice you of pretty much the same thing the Chancery will ask for.

There are photos of the old statue at the chapel in Sylvan Springs so I don't see why it would be any problem to take this statue there now. Sylvan Springs is currently a privately-owned property ( a status the owners are still working to change to NFP so the church requirements will be fulfilled), so why would it need the Bishop's approval to be shown there?
I'm no church lawyer, but I'm just saying it only makes sense to present Her where She started. Sometimes good men do not always do God's exact will in these campaigns even though they seem to be doing good. Although this is all seemingly good and moving forward, I think bringing Her to Rome City is something that needs to be strongly considered.

With all of the wonderful blessings happening to and through people at the Rome City site, I cannot think of a better place to enthrone Her (outside of the National Basilica of course). No matter if She is finally enthroned in D.C., I believe that people will still feel a special closeness to Her in Rome City and will continue to travel there in ever-increasing numbers.
Don't forget the upcoming anniversary dates of Sept 25 & 26. I understand the facility will be open for visitors both days and rosaries will be prayed throughout the day. I did not hear if Mass would be celebrated yet, but as TW says, "If it is God's will".
Since one of the objectives of the Rome City site is to hopefully engaged some religious order or institute for its future, I was just wondering if there has been any contact between these grounds and the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate...or the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate. This is the group that has been so strongly endorsing OLOA - the recorded talks at Mother Angelica's enthronement in Hanceville, also at the Pro Life March in Washington, D.C., and now will also be involved in the concluding benediction in St. Louis before the statue travels to New York?
Just looking at connections - or, perhaps, future "God-incidents"!
I agree with you Kris that it would be a natural fit, but so would several other orders who have not been so directly involved up until now. All it takes is a love for what Our Lady has asked and MONEY to keep it safe.
I saw photos of Fr. Michael Gavreaux when he was to Rome City in 2005 with the original statue and I understand he seemed quite willing to take up the mission when he was asked.
The only obstacle standing in the way of furthering this part of the objective is the money to back the effort. That is part of what OLTIV is attempting to accomplish.
Help is still needed to secure this property and keep it open for those who desperately need it...ALL OF HER CHILDREN!

I have overheard the details of what is required and the substantial tax benefits available to any group or individual who would partner with the current owners or purchase the property outright. It could be a FANTASTIC deal for all involved (especially the religious and pilgrims). I would love to be able to be a part of this but I do not have the resources to be of financial assistance. MAybe you do?
If you have never been there, you just cannot imagine how beautiful, peaceful, and HUGE this place is.
I have nothing to gain by my activism here (no more than anybody else). I just know this place is Holy ground and it is up to all of us to speak up to preserve it. The Young's have given everything to do Our Lady's bidding and so many people have directly benefitted from their sacrifices. I am one of them. I could never find the words to completely describe how my life has been made complete by growing in spirit through the rosaries on Fridays (and now the Masses and Benediction). I look forward to Fridays and growing closer to my Lord Jesus at this inspiring place.

Thanks for your input. Neither do I have the ability to offer financing other than a planned donation towards perhaps a golf cart and continuing prayers.
I suppose I was considering that $$ need when thinking of any religious who might have contact with Mother Angelica since she was able to gain large financing for her Shrine through only 4 or 5 families....and so any influence with those who could afford such backing might be helpful. I'm sure God has His plan down the lane though. I'm trying to remember the title of our Lady (holding money bags in the image!) that Mother A. always prayed to for such help!
Perhaps once the main goal of recognition in the National Basilica comes to fruition more notice by all will help this beautiful spot too.
