Show & Tell
We received a letter this week from a woman who heard about Our Lady of America on the Garry Meier radio program on WCKG in Chicago last week. The topic was spiritual phenomena and a caller had mentioned his experiences at Sylvan Springs and directed listeners to this website for more info.
When this woman heard it, she immediately went to the website and the rest is her story to show & tell:
I heard about Rome City on the Garry Meier show, I only caught the tail end of it, but I heard the caller who spoke about the sun spinning. There was something in his voice that sounded so sincere. I immediately looked it up on the internet and wanted to go there. I did not know why, but the pull was so great. It wasn't in my budget but, I felt I really had to go. I asked my boyfriend, I showed him the web info and off we went on Saturday. We got there about 3 pm and drove onto the grounds not knowing where to go. I was anxious and I could not understand why. By the time we came around to the front, Nick had just driven up with his wife and said he felt like he had to come over to the grounds. He asked if we would like a tour. He was so wonderful and answered all my questions. I felt scared, happy, calm, and free of pain. I have bad knees and walking and stairs sometimes are difficult. All the time I was there, I had no pain and felt like a child, that I could walk for days if I had to. I was expectant, but did not know for what. I was in awe of the church and small chapel. I smelled flowers in one of the rooms. It was not roses, but it was flowers.
The spring water was the most refreshing drink I have ever had. I took some home in a small water bottle. We washed our faces and I washed my knees with the water. I walked over to the hill with the statue of the Holy Family and said a prayer to Our Lady. I have never been more aware of my breathing in my life. I did not see the sun spin, but one of the entries in the blog states "Our Lady will not give you, what you want, but what you need". I believe she will show me what I need to see.
I cannot wait to come back to the spring. I cannot stop thinking about the place. There is a reason I went there, but I still don't know why. I am very happy I did.

Notice the placement of the orb on the wall just above the statue of Our Lady of Lourdes in both photos. It is in exactly the same place in both photos. Is this the location where the Virgin Mary first appeared as Our Lady of Lourdes to Sr. Neuzil on Sept. 25, 1956? When studied with other photos previously posted (now available in a downloadable gallery on this website) one can conclude that the location of these orbs is related to other phenomena that have been photographed in the exact same location. It also happens to be the same location that Our Lady was seen in an apparition experienced during the first official Our Lady of America pilgrimage on July 14, 2006.
No flash was used in either photo. Pay particular attention to the tremendous number of orbs in the second photo...especially the remarkably blue one in the upper right side.

More good fruits and photographic evidence to support the truthfulness of the existence of Our Lady of America and the calling to Rome City by Our Lady.
The power of the media is what reached this particular woman. This is exactly what John Paul II was calling for when he said to utilize the media, in particular the internet, to evangelize and educate.

I was wondering if it would be possible for us viewers to see the pictures mentioned in this comment:
I saw some photos in a display in the small chapel from June 8 that show two images coming from the sun and resting right in front of the chapel doors.
Also, I've noticed that every once in a while there is a request for prayer from someone - either a friend or family member. Soooo...could there possibly be a place here for prayer requests for the interecession of OLOA and each day we could offer all requests (old and new) as a little prayer group of our own!

as far as the prayer requests, every prayer request mentioned here is printed off and put in the prayer basket in the little chapel at Sylvan Springs.

A 56 passenger bus for the June 29 rosary is full. There are several other car loads of people coming including St. Johns, Mi and St. Joseph, MI, Elkhart, In, Ft. Wayne, IN. I am so honored to have my letter posted on the site. I definately feel different since my visit.
I know there is a special reason for each of us to go there. It will be different for each of us. I have a sense of peace, that I was missing before. We are planning to stop at the spring again soon and hopefully be able to visit both chapels. We would like to take a movie camera and a better still camera. It is amazing, because when I went in to the church I gravitated to the spot by the statue of Our Lady. I felt like I was in the presence of something very wonderful and precious. I was holding by breath. I even asked permission to step closer to the statue. I have sent a copy of my letter the Garry Meier, in hopes he wil discuss Sylvan Springs some more.

I have never heard of the story. I have always been fasinated by the apparitions of Our Lady around the world. Garry Meier has a talk show on WCKG in Chicago. Garry has been on Chiago radio off and on for the past 30 yrs or so on one station or another. Garry's show now is a pleasant comedy show, not too serious, not too offensive. He covers different stories....like the one which led me to the spring.

Tonite is rosary night...7pm in the small chapel unless there are too many...then they go to the big chapel.
Tonite's forecast is for partly cloudy skies. Look to the West at 8pm and bring your camera . Like Forrest Gump and his box o' chocolates..."you'll never know what you're gonna get!"

I am looking for a solid individual(s) interested in helping to do Our Lady's work at Sylvan Springs.
I have been following events very closely at this particular place for over 15 years now and I feel that this property is far too important to Our Lady of America to not be protected for the faithful.
After lengthy discussions with the family who currently owns the property, I have come up with a workable plan to protect this Holy Ground for Our Lady and "all of Her children" as She has requested.
However, I will need the help of qualified people to assist me with additional financial backing and stewardship of the not-for-profit which will take over ownership and directorial control according to what I feel are Our Lady's wishes for this site.
My plan would offer substantial tax incentives to those participating as well as the asset protection and long-term viability this project mandates. It would also bring it into alignment with Church laws concerning shrines and their ownership and management by religious orders.
I can assure you that neither the current owners nor I have any profit motive in this. Our goal is to take this particular property to its highest and best use as a spiritual destination for those in need.
If you have been reading any of the personal testimonials here over the last 6 months, you will agree that this place has been pre-ordained to this work and it needs the active involvement of Her faithful children to continue.

To Mr. Fiato, reading your post just reaffirms everything good in this whole world. Thank you for stepping forward in this monumental task of trying to preserve Our Lady's Holy Place as we who have "eyes to see and ears to hear" Her calling us to come.
I will pray continuously for "qualified individuals" to contact you immediately as I agree no one can let this beautiful place fall into hands not of God and His Blessed Mother!
I am so looking forward to my trip to Rome City the first week in August. It will be a special homecoming for me to be in the place of Our Lady.

Be careful good people. There are all kinds of wolves that love to take money from over-trusting innocent souls. Sooner or later they give themselves away by making a pitch for money -- financial backing. It always comes around to this -- MONEY! This Sylanus Scam is more about money than apparitions or devotion to Our Lady or anything spiritual. It's clear that you good people are being set up.
These fellows are just being very crafty with you. Hold onto your hard earned money and do not give one penny to this shameless swindle. Donate to your local parish. Give to well established charities. Pray to Our Lady that she will not permit devils posing as pilgrims to pilfer your earnings through their shameless exploitation of your love for our Blessed Mother.

I am inviting you to come and pray the fifteen decade rosary and the chaplet of Divine Mercy on next Friday at 7:00 PM. There will be a hundred people praying together at Sylvan Springs. I am sure you know that when two or three are gathered in the name of Jesus that He will be present.

should your advice extend to the "crafty" men in funny hats who come around every year crying that they need money (I'm talking about the Bishops)?
you've obviously never been to Rome City so you should just hold your water until you have earned any right to comment on these good people and their response to Our Lady's calling.
Alex Fiato happens to be the Grand Knight of The Father Solanus Casey Knights of Columbus...if ever there was a wolf in sheeps clothing, obviously he would devote countless hours to the service of the Church before orchestrating such a scam as this.

Please do not use orbs in photos as proof of Mary. I feel you are doing a disservice to people who visit your site. There are plenty of 'ghost hunters' who use the same sort of 'evidence' to show proof of ghosts & supernatural phenomenon. I have had these orbs show up in many of the photos I've taken with my digital camera and I've come to believe they're either dust captured on film or artifacts of digital photos taken in low-light instances. I could post TONS of photos with these 'orbs' in them. Either my house is filled with ghosts or Mary & the Saints are doing the macarena around my dining room.
Is there any way to see the dust orbs in your photos Rouver? I have taken quite a few photos in my 51 years on this earth. I have never taken photos like the ones I took in Rome City. I know how to clean my lenses, I have had the same question posed to me about possibly something being on the lense. Why do the "dust" orbs show up in some of the same areas in photos of others. It would seem to me if any are has "dust" particles that large, they most likely would be visible to the naked eye. I saw nothing. I saw nothing in the areas where the orbs appear. I touched the oil on the walls... do you have theory on that also? I am very curious to learn from you as you seem to have solved the mystery of the orbs. Please share your wisdom with us. I am going back to Sylvan Springs very soon, this time I am taking a better camera, plus the same one I originally used. In addition I have a movie camera I'd like to film with. I will be very happy to submit my photos then. I am positive they will be the same.

I think you misunderstand...I am not saying the dust is on the lens but floating in the air. It's irritating to me to have these orbs in my photos. Personally, it can ruin a good photo of what I'm actually trying to capture on film.
If you think about it, dust particles ARE visible to the naked eye, but only when the light hits them right...such as motes dancing in sunbeams. Everyone is familiar with that phenomenon. It's not that they are as large as they appear in the photos, but that they are simply close to the lens and APPEAR large. Now, I'm just someone with a camera...I'm not an expert. I cannot explain WHY these particles are illuminated in photos, but I'm sure that's what they are. I very consistently find them in pictures I take in low light levels, typically with a flash (but not always).
All I am addressing is the orbs. I have no theories on oil on walls, crying statues, spinning suns, etc. I just don't like seeing people using, what is in my mind, illuminated dust particles, to say that there is undeniable proof of supernatural activity, whether it's the virgin Mary or ornery poltergeists.
I see that new photos have been posted that contain these orbs, as of June 29th. You can always post your response there, so our conversation doesn't get shuttled off to obscurity.
I am not a across-the-board miracle-doubter (although there's nothing wrong with a dollop of healthy skepticism). It's just these darn little orbs & their subsequent interpretation that get under my skin. :)
